Proper benchmarking

Best Practice, Monitoring, Reporting, Social Media

When working with performance marketing, benchmarking is key. There are several levels of benchmarking, and needless to say, the more precise your benchmarks, the more accurate your performance. What that basically means is, don’t compare apples with pears.

With deepdivr, we offer a few options for benchmarking, such as account benchmarks, campaign benchmarks and category benchmarks – and we have more options on the way!

Category benchmarks

With category benchmarks, you’re able to benchmark specific campaigns against a certain category. Say you’re a car dealer, and you have 5 different models that you’re advertising: For simplicity, we’ll call the car models A, B, C, D and E.

Let’s say your most popular model is B while E and D are the least popular. E and D might be more expensive car models and thus the advertising you do for E and D does not deliver the same results as the other models you promote. And they definitely don’t show the same results as your model B campaigns do. Does it then make sense to benchmark your new model B campaign against the results of model E? No, it doesn’t, because you will always have better results for model B than E and D. So, that wouldn’t be very valuable in terms of performance. With deepdivr’s tag benchmarks, you are able to benchmark your model B campaign against previous results from model B campaigns using the category benchmarks. It’s super easy! And it gives you the most accurate performance benchmarks, so you can focus on optimizing your campaigns the right way!
